Hey All! I’ve been in Georgia for a little over 3 weeks. A lot has happened in the long yet short time and I want to share somethings with you. The best way I see fit: a list of things!! Sooo here are 10 things that have stood out to me, small and big, in the last three weeks:
1- The Racers here are SO hungry to grow and learn about the Lord. During sessions, we see them being very attentive, taking notes, asking questions, and walking in what they’ve just learned afterwards. It’s beautiful to be a part of and to witness.
2- I forgot how much I loved bucket showers. For those who don’t know, a bucket shower in Georgia literally consists of a big five gallon bucket filled with water and a smaller measuring cup used to dump the water on your body. It may not sound pleasant, but it is quite refreshing on a hot, humid Georgia day.
2.5- Buttttttt I am also so thankful for the men who worked hard on building real showers for us in big storage containers which we just got to start using today!
3- Colossians 1:18-20 MSG “…So spacious is He, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in Him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe- people and things, animals and atoms- get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of His death, His blood that poured down from the cross.” We looked at this verse during a session and the fact that God is so roomy and has enough space for everything absolutely fascinated me. It was a reminder to myself that He has enough for all of me and everything I could ever bring to Him. Also on the other hand, He will make room in my life for whatever He wants in there even if I think it’s too full.
4- The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 14:11-32) has so so so many good lessons in it. Try reading it each morning for a few days and count all the new things God teaches you about it.
5- Leading and partnering with others in their walk with the Lord can be more emotionally draining than I thought it would be. At the ends of days, I am exhausted even though I haven’t done much physically exertion. Later I realized it was because we (as leaders) are getting to pour so much of ourselves into these Racers to show them new things about Jesus daily. And let me tell you- it is so worth it and such an honoring privilege to be exhausted due to deeply investing in people. I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
6- Our kitchen staff is AMAZING!! They’re cooking for 150 plus people seven days a week and are killing it! Our meals have been very flavorful, and I look forwards to every single one of them.
7- I love my leadership team more and more every second of the day. I know I know- I keep saying that but I just don’t think I have the words to truly express my gratitude for being blessed to lead with them and for them to encourage me into deeper faith. We begin every morning in prayer with each other. It’s quickly become one of my favorite parts of the day: sharing our prayer requests and then forming a tight circle and lifting our prayers up to the Lord.
8- 1 John is amazing and a book of the Bible everyone should read. God is teaching me a lot about His love for us, the commandment to love others, and the word “abide” through 1 John right now. Give it a read if you’re looking for a new book to study in the Bible.
9- There are a group of gals on my squad who are excited to work out and stay active with me which makes me so pumped! We’ve done a few workouts together, and I can’t wait for more to come during our time together.
10- We also have a decent amount of people on our squad who like handstands and have done some handstand contests here and there. It’s quite fun and always makes me laugh!
Wellll there ya have it! 10 things so far for my time as an Alumni Team Leader with Gap C! More to come soon here on the blog so keep your eyes out and thanks for reading!!
With Love,
Paige :):):):):):)
