So my girls B-Dog and Arielle wrote a blog about all the different ministries and “roles” we had to play so far on the Race… but I want to put a spin on that blog, and instead tell you about the roles that my squamates have had to fill in my life since being away from home. Lets just jump right in…
Gap A you’ve been my:
Friend- these people stay laughing at my jokes even when they’re not funny, there’s not a second that goes by (well maybe sometimes lol) that I don’t want to be around them. They are always down for adventure and have THE biggest servant hearts ever.
Sister- these girls are my SIC’s we have that sisterly bond of being besties but also feeling as close family so there is definitely occasional bickering, nothing feedback can’t fix though 🙂
Brother- my BIC’S act somewhat childish like a brother should but also will do what they can to honor us and respect us – love you guys
Mom- my squadmates will always give me a shoulder to cry on when I need it, but also point me in the right direction and give me discernment even if its something I don’t want to hear
Councilor- when we think the world is ending, having a mental breakdown, or feeling homesick someone always wants to help walk through it with you
Doctor- Courtlan stays cleaning my wounds
Pharmacist- someones always got pills for literally anything you might need…
Cosmetologist- hair cutters, eyebrow doers, nail artist (Arielle)…. the list goes on, we stay making sure everyone looks presentable
Clothing store (lol)- we get to essentially shop every morning to pick out our ministry outfits
Chefs- sometimes if we are feeling called (teehee) people will make pancakes/ French toast/ eggs/ or other delicacies for us.
Entertainment- there is always someone dancing, fires being being built. Games being played, fights being fought, eyebrows being shaved… just lots of laughs
Prayer Warriors- we stay praying for each other out here, weather its spiritual or physical (one of my fave memories of this is from table mountain IYKYK)
Accountability Partner- here on the World Race we set lots of goals, good thing we have people that keep us accountable.
DJ- I feel like we always got music going around here and someone has to DJ
Sport Teammate- spikeball, football, volleyball, basketball, soccer…. you name it we’ve probably played it
Workout Buddies- this can be a hard one to find but there are people who will run and work out with you #JUAN2
Cleaning Ladies- laundry folders, dish washers, sweepers… plus all the other chores Fabi and Mabe make us do 🙂
Musicians- lots of guitars and drums being played over here. Also we have literally the most amazing singers on A squad so its always a concert
Blog Editors- they are currently giving me ideas for this blog right now (thanks Christine, Arielle, and Emily!!!)
Photographer- we stay capturing cool moments on the race with our phones. Also we literally have professional photographers on the squad (Karson… Drew… Sam…)
Roommate- I share a room with all 5 of my teammates and Colby… so we have a lot of personal preferences that are hard to compromise on. Like when someone wants to watch a movie out loud without headphones. Or when I come in at like 2 in the morning and have to climb on the top bunk every night (whoops). But thats what roommates are for 🙂
Living in community can SUCK at times… but I can’t think of a better group of people to travel around the world with than my sweet Gap A…
