Worry is the sin of distrusting the promise and providence of God, and yet it is a sin that
Christians commit perhaps more frequently than any other. John MacArthur

I'm beginning to get stressed and worried…specifically about this trip.

Will enough money come in to meet my deadline in 2 weeks? (help me here)
Who's going to take care of my friends when I'm gone?
What will happen to my relationships with friends at home while I'm gone? Will they still be there for me while on the race? when I get home?
Will I get everything that needs done, done in time?
Am I really going to gain all that weight like I've been warned?
How will I survive with only a few changes of clothing, on a rice in bean (I hate beans) diet, feeling ugly with no make up or hairdryer to tame my frizzy wavy hair, without the normal comforts of home, without  family…?

I looked for Truth, and comfort and this is what I learned:

If you are stressed or worried about something in
your life, it's probably not your responsibility!

God knows your heart, and He'll take care of it. Give it up to Him.

I recognize that you haven't all been called to a year of abandonment, but still, maybe you can relate:

Worried that the money coming in isn't going to pay the bills this month? Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Worried that the kids won't make it home safe tonight, and their struggles are too much for you to bear? Worried about a sick friend?  Psalm 121:7- The Lord will keep you from all harm, He will watch over your life. (He loves them more than you could ever imagine, and keeps watch over them while you are apart)

Stressed about the weight gain, or how you look? Matthew 6:25- Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

Stressed about all the things that need to get done tomorrow?  Matthew 6:34- Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Here's what He tells us about stress:
It has no value.
Luke 12:25- Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Pray and tell Him about it. Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Give it up to the Lord, He loves you.  1 Peter 5:7- Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

The world may not always end up how we want it to, but rest assure, we are in His hands and we will be taken care of.  Leave it up to Him. He alone, is enough.
He's on OUR side!
He will fight FOR US!

I love this line from Casting Crown's song 'East to West':
"I'm not holding on to You, but You're holding on to me"
