We are back from the mountains!

Month two has been a whirlwind of awesome! We partnered with Agape and got to serve in several different ministries. We started our month out with prayer ministry where we hiked to the top of a mountain that overlooked all of Kathmandu. We prayed for the entire city and asked for the Lord’s direction in where He wanted us to pour out and plant seeds.

We spent a few more days walking through the city of Kathmandu praying for the city and Nepali people along with visiting a Buddhist temple and praying over it. We then spent two Wednesdays helping out with soccer ministry for the street and slum kids. We also, spent an afternoon in the slums where we played games and sang songs with the kids. Our next week we participated in women at risk ministry, where we spent a day sharing pictures and encouraging women who work in dance bars. We then visited cabin restaurants and spoke to the women who sell themselves and had the opportunity to share hope with them about their futures. Finally, we finished that week off in the dance bars where we ministered to girls (ages from 15-21) and got to help connect them with a ministry that can help get them out of the bars and into a safe place.

We then participated in a Treasure Hunt, which I talked about in a previous post. Our final 9 days were spent in the mountains where we hiked, prayed, and encouraged the local churches we came into contact with. We spent our first few nights in Dumre encouraging the body of believers there who were trying to plant a church. We spent time encouraging and praying for them in one of their houses. We then spent the next few nights in Pokra, where we trekked and went on prayer walks. We also had the opportunity to encourage the pastor we stayed with and pour out over his church and surrounding community. Being in the mountains was so refreshing and I could feel God’s presence in the Himalayas and mountains that surrounded where we were.

*One of the days in Dumre we hiked to the top of a mountain where we got to hike in the largest cave in Nepal.

*We bought dried out corn and made homemade popcorn with Dillop’s (our guide) parents!! It was so yummy!

*Soonita!! One of our ministry partners for the month! She is so full of joy and one of my favorite parts of Nepal! I will miss her smile and friendship so dearly!

I have so many more stories and pictures to share but not enough time or wifi to share them with you at this time. Nepal has been a wonderful month and I am excited to leave knowing that the Lord is doing BIG and BEAUTIFUL things here in Nepal. I have been so encouraged by the Nepali believers and their passion for sharing the joy and hope that is found in trusting in God!

If you have any questions about what I did this month please send me a message and I’d love to share more with you! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who is supporting me both financially and prayerfully! It is because of your support that I am in Nepal getting to encourage our Nepali brothers and sisters and plant seeds for the kingdom!

It is hard to believe we fly to Vietnam tomorrow, but I know the Lord is going before us and paving the way for month three!

Until Vietnam,

Michelle

(P.S. Vietnam is a closed country so please do not use words or terminology that is associated with mission work or God. Also, please be praying for safe travels as we embark on two days of travel. Love you all!)
