Even before we got to Nepal we heard stories of The Last Resort. The last resort is a resort tucked away in the mountains home to the second largest bungee jump and the largest canyon swing in the world. I was determined to do them both and take advantage of this amazing deal. We could do both the bungee jump and the canyon swing for $125 USD with rides and lunch included! There were about 12 of us who signed up to go and one of our ministry hosts Bipin arranged the transportation for us so we could jump off a bridge. Bipin was a huge answer to prayer because even though I have a drive for adventure, I’m not gifted in logistics.

I could write a blog about just Bipin himself because he is such a character. We call him “the man on fire” because we never met a man more on fire for the Lord than this guy. At any moment he would be yelling, “Fire!” or praying in tongues, or buying us gifts. He has a huge heart for people and made our trip even more amazing.

The bus ride to the resort was breathtaking. We winded through mountain pass after mountain pass gazing at the green peaks. We were even so lucky as to see several waterfalls outside the bus windows. We pulled up to the bridge we about to jump off and were stunned not only the beauty of the canyon below the, but how ridiculously high it was!

They split us up into different groups by weight and prepared us for the bungee jump. We waited in line until they strapped us up with a chest harness and a foot harness. I did not hit me what we were about to do until I got on the platform. The bungee chords are heavy and you have to move your scoot forward on the platform until your feet are half on and half off. Then….you jump!

You only free fall for a few seconds, but it feels an eternity as every moment is amplified and adrenaline is coursing through your veins. You literally feel like your flying as you plunge face forward into the canyon. I felt so alive by the time I got to the bottom all I could do was be grateful for this amazing adventure and this awesome undeserved life freely given by God.

We ate at the resort buffet and met a couple from Dubai staying there for vacation. Then we got ready for the canyon swing. The canyon swing started of the same way bungee jumping did and had a 5 second free fall. It’s basically a straight shot to the bottom and then it swings you outward to the rest of the canyon. The views were incredible because there were waterfalls at the bottom. Overall I loved the feeling of bungee jumping more than the swing but I love the views of the canyon on the swing more than the bungee. It was an epic adventure day and if you ever get a chance to bungee jump I would tell you to go for it!
