I know what you all are thinking. FINALLY. My first official blog. I just wanna apologize to my donors for keeping you guys in the dark for so long. However, I definitely will be trying to write blogs more frequently. If you guys haven’t heard by now, because of COVID, my trip has changed from nine months in Africa and Asia to three months in the states and six months overseas. For the first third of my trip, I will be in none other than Gainesville, Georgia. We are staying at the Adventures In Missions base, diving into training for our trip overseas after the New Year. Right now we are not leaving campus because of AIM’s COVID regulations. And that’s what we thought the whole three months would basically look like. But a couple days ago we were told we are going down to Louisiana on October 10th through the 17th to help Samaritan’s Purse with disaster relief after Hurricane Sally! God has showed me so much in these first weeks that I’ve been here. I’m so so excited to apply the things I’ve learned, will be learning, and to see what else God has planned for me here.

While I’ve been here, I’ve learned how to wash my clothes by hand, take bucket showers, set up my whole day to day life in a tent, and how to truly live in community with 40 other people. Honestly I feel right in my element. I do miss the luxuries of home, but it’s really taught me to be thankful for everything the Lord has blessed me with. I’ve also learned so much regarding my relationship with the Lord. Like how to fully surrender to the the Father, how to deeply dive into scripture like I’ve never known before, how to de-mystify the Holy Spirit, and so so much more.

I’ve been blessed with the best squad ever!! Because of COVID for the first two weeks, our squad was separated into cohorts.  We had to stay six feet away from them at all times which was so hard, because we bonded as a team so incredibly fast and just wanted to hangout with each other as soon as possible.  And when those two weeks were up, we went CRAZY when we could finally get to know each other better. Not gonna lie, it’s pretty scary how fast we all became family. We are from all over America, with totally different lifestyles, backgrounds, and upbringings, but I am so excited to do life with these crazy people and spend the next nine months with them! Glory to God!
