“What does God think of you?”

A simple question I was asked during a session about hearing the voice of God this week. We learned about the voice of God and how to discern if what we are hearing is from God, the enemy, the world or the flesh. I am going to do a quick breakdown on some telltale signs, so that you can discern if what you are hearing is from God.

The voice of God: The voice of God will always bear the fruits of the spirits; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, these are all named in Galatians 5:22-23.

The voice of the enemy: The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy, therefore; its voice will convey feelings of shame, confusion and anger, none of which will ever come from God.

The voice of the world: This voice will prioritize things of the world, such as; greed, pride and consumption. An example of this from my own life is with money. I had the opportunity to donate to someone and part of me felt like I was being called to save my money. That voice I was hearing wasn’t God, God calls us to leave everything and follow Him, He doesn’t want us to rely on a savings account, He wants us to rely on Him. Not that a savings account is a bad thing, but normally when there is a voice telling me to save my money and not donate it, it’s probably coming from a place of greed which is the voice of the world.

The voice of the flesh: This will come from our flesh desires, these will be; conceited, provoking and envying thoughts and wants (Galatians 5:26).

Here’s an acronym to remember when you are deciding if you are hearing from the voice of God.

S.T.U.F.F

S – Scriptural, does it line up with scripture? God will never conflict with His Word (Psalms 18:30).

T – Testimony of believers, seek counsel from other believers (Proverbs 24:6, Proverbs 12:19, proverbs 15:22).

U – Up lifts Christ, who is it uplifting to, yourself or Christ? (John 3:30)

F – Fruitful, does it bear the fruits of the spirit? (Luke 6:43)

F – Fulfilled, does it come to pass? (Deuteronomy 18:21-22)

Alright here we go! I was asked three questions;

– What does God think of you?

– What does God want to tell you about who He is?

– Is there anything God wants to say to you today?

If you are up for it, I would love for you to take some time to pray about these questions and answer them for yourselves and make sure to take everything you have from this blog post to scripture, because I definitely am human and not all knowing. Here’s a few scriptures about God’s desire to speak with us because of His love for us, John 10:1-8, 1 John 2:16, Galatians 5:16-19.

I want to share my answer to the first question with you, what does God think of me?

This was a difficult question for me to answer at first, because my negative thoughts of myself were at the front of my mind. I have always felt like my past weakens me in his eyes and all I can ever think of is my imperfections. I knew that none of these thoughts were biblical though, therefore; at the beginning of this conversation with God, I asked him to speak to me. Which He did, He gave me 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, which reads, “but he said to me, “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Whoa, He just really came in and said, “you know all those imperfections you’re using to hold yourself down? Well my grace covers all of them and they are made perfect in Me. All the weaknesses you have can rest on Me, because that’s where I am made strong.” So, I decided to allow my weaknesses to rest on Him and began seeing myself as He sees me.

How does God see me? He sees me as His beloved, beautiful daughter, who has been made whole by His grace and who is worth so much that He gave His only son to die for me AND even after that He continues to fully pursue me everyday. Isn’t that crazy? That is how the Lord of the universe sees me, THANKS GOD!

I hope you get some time to talk to God and hear some of His beautiful truths about you today. Feel free to comment any questions you might have and make sure to fact check me with scripture.
