:: a missionary’s life – dancing queen ::

Time for my weekly Friday updates.  This is a chance for me to give you all a glimpse into the every day happenings of my life.  Basically, I pick five highlights from the week and share them with you.  They’re simple, oftentimes funny, and just plain normal.

“He is a dancing queen, er… KING!”  This past weekend my friend Rachel got married to my friend Robby’s brother.  Sounds like a strange family affair, I know, but trust me – it’s awesome!  We drove down to Cincinnati/Kentucky and had a mini World Race reunion with my squad and then went to the wedding.  It was a great time of catching up with everybody and seeing faces I hadn’t seen in over one year!  But my favorite part was the dancing at the wedding.  Why?  Because I never dance… and I danced my butt off!  It was so much fun.  I just cut loose and didn’t care what anyone thought.  We all should do that more in life…

Brothers, sisters, and laughs.
After the wedding, several of the World Race peeps came back up to Michigan with us and hanged out for a few days.  It was so much fun!  It was like living life together again and I realized how much I missed those people I spent one of the most transforming years of my life with.  We laughed a lot!  Gosh, they’re great.

Ambush Christmas Decorating.
  Unfortunately there are a lot of scrooges during the Christmas holiday season.  It’s not that they don’t like Christmas, it’s that they don’t like the hustle and bustle of Christmas, putting up decorations and taking them down.  So earlier in the week we went over to the Hindes’ and helped Kathy put up her Christmas tree and decorations.  Michael was out of town.  It was fun!  And it surprised him.  It actually took us about 20 minutes to do the whole house… because we’re fantastic Christmas elves.

Twos.  Have you ever played the card game “twos”?  I haven’t.  In fact, I really suck at card games.  It’s not the numbers that confuse me, it’s the suits.  The suits confuse the dickens out of me!  And when you play this particular game, suits have an order and a value.  I absolutely don’t understand it.  This is why I never play cards.  This is actually why I don’t usually ever play any type of board game or card game… other than “Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magical Carrot”…

Going to the doctor!  This is probably one of the biggest highs of the week.  My mom hooked me up with a FREE doctors appointment this coming Monday with a REAL doctor!  I’m so excited.  The lady said she would just write it off because of the nature of the work I do.  This is the biggest blessing!  In case you didn’t know, I’ve had health problems… pretty much ever since I got back over a year ago from my time overseas.  I’m hopefully going to get them solved!

What was some of your highlights this week?
