“Do you want to come along for a journey” These are possibly the greatest words anyone has ever said to me. Yesterday those words were spoken to me and it ended up being one of the greatest nights of my life.

Quick update before I dive in, we have been living and serving at an orphanage here in Cambodia for the past week and will be here for the entire month of November! It is so incredible and the children are by far the coolest people I have ever met. But that is for another blog.

So after a very short church service here at the orphanage, we were kinda just hanging around playing soccer and talking, when the head of the orphanage, came up to me and said that he was going on a journey to visit a friend. He paused for a brief moment , then looked at me and asked me if I would like to come along. I looked him square in the eyes and said, “Heck yes”. I was beyond stoked to go, even though I had no idea where we were going or what we were going to do.

We hopped on the back of his motorcycle and left the orphanage at around 430 PM. Now I have never been good at writing with imagery but I am going to try my best. The first thing you need to know is that this orphanage is in a very small village, in the middle of no where. The village itself is extremely underdeveloped and there are no paved roads or any solid infrastructure. We got on the first dirt road and were immediately surrounded by a ton of other motorcycles. It was super hectic and crazy and I was holding on for dear life. Then after about 10 minutes of riding down this chaotic road, we took a hard left and entered into a new world. There wasn’t a single person in sight. We were all alone. Surrounded by Gigantic palm trees everywhere, and beautiful beautiful green fields that seemed as if they stretched the entire horizon. Also the sun was setting and the entire sky was bright orange. I was so enchanted by God’s beautiful creation that I couldn’t even hear the engine of the motorcycle, I was completely and utterly enthralled. The beauty that I was surrounded by, was without a doubt some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen, rivalling Yosemite in California, and the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Now that the stage has been set, I can share with you what God showed me while I was riding on the back of a motorcycle in the beautiful backcountry of Cambodia. As I was sitting there I have never felt more alive than I did in that moment and that is because God truly revelled something to me, not just to my brain but God implanted it in my heart. God showed me that That this life is such a precious gift. Every day that God allows me to wake up in my tent or wherever I am sleeping is such an incredible blessing and honour. To have one more day of life is one of the greatest gifts. Not to mention the millions of blessings he pours out on me everyday. Among those are health, community, and a loving family that I have praying for me back home, but also a loving family everywhere I go, and that is the body of Christ and my fellow brothers and sister who believe that Jesus is the son of god and has died on the cross and overcome death for us. God also showed me that Every day we have a choice. A choice to make the most out of the day and have a positive attitude or the choice to have a negative attitude and let another day go by. Its easy to tell which one is going to enhance your life. F God showed me one more thing on the back of that moto, he showed me that This life is short, but eternity lasts forever. We are only on this earth for a little while when you think about it. That is another reason why its important to take every moment captive. However the Bible says that if you confess with your mouth that jesus is lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.(Romans 10:9). This will lead to eternal life! A life without a single problem, a life where you will never feel pain or longing, a life to the full(John 10:10).  A life where you will be with the creator of the universe for eternity.

Its crazy to think how a simple ride on the back of motorcycle completely changed my life. Man is God good and man did he show me a lot in that one ride. For that reason, every day I will keep on striving and not giving up on my dreams and goals in life. Dreams that God has placed in my heart. Oh and funny story when we finally made it to his friends house, he wasn’t even there! We had traveled nearly 40 minutes to see this guy and he wasn’t there! Haha we both laughed very hard and got back on the moto and watched the sun set over the horizon.
