The first couple of days in Guatemala have definitely been an adventure. I can already see areas in my life where God is pushing me out of my comfort zone.
My team, as well as two other teams, are living in a small village called Xenacoj. Last night our teams had the opportunity to go to a fiesta. We didn’t know what to expect, accept that there might be dancing.
As soon as the music started playing, two guys on another team started dancing and the whole village just stared. When the next song started playing several of my teammates started dancing too, including me.
If you know me at all, you know that I don’t really dance, especially in front of a crowd. But I did it. I danced in front of a crowd of Guatemalans and I didn’t care. I didn’t care what they thought, and I didn’t care how bad I was dancing.
In the moment, it was so freeing and fun to see what God can do when I stepped out of my comfort zone. It will be so awesome to see what God will do over these next nine months when I say yes to stepping outside of my comfort zone.
