It has only been two months and I am sooooo different. In fact I don’t even recognize myself. Let me tell you why:

I never thought I’d ever…

  • Eat the same thing for breakfast and dinner every day and ACTUALLY look forward to each meal.
  • Crawl into the dirty sheets on our hostel bed rationalizing that bed bugs wouldn’t stay with us for long because we don’t have beds and lice we could probably get rid on in the next 9 months.
  • Calmly use a squatty potty with a spider as big as my hand next to my face.
  • Walk 45 minutes to get internet only to walk back again when it didn’t work.
  • Calmly discuss if there is a worm in our stomachs since we found one in our drinking water.
  • Sweat more than I thought was humanly possible.

(Don't be fooled.. this is only halfway up the mountain)
  • Pray over my bowel movements.
  • Eat sugar and rice to satisfy my sweet tooth.
  • Say, “I really want to shower, but they are using it to wash potatoes…” and “will someone please catch that chicken running across the dining room table?”
  • Go so long with out showering that I forgot how many days it had been.
  • Pay to jump off a bridge with nothing but a chord strapped to my ankles.

(Our bungee jumping team!)

Don’t worry… You will still recognize me.

  • I still can’t seem to eat properly and always leave a mess under my plate.
  • Whenever I try to verbally process out loud I usually start 3+ sentences with out finishing them.
  • I still drink coffee whenever the opportunity arises.
  • Peanut butter, honey, and banana sandwiches are the BEST!
  • I mix people’s names up on a regular basis.
  • Use excel, write on engineering paper, and analyze structures/materials when possible (didn’t really think that would pop up so soon…)

So, to those of you back home, I am giving you 9 months time to prep for the new me. (If thats enough time to prep for a baby… I figure that's an adaquate amount of time to install a squatty potty…) I promise I won't shave my head or get any new tattoos but I can't promise that I will smell the same.

I love you and I miss you! We are headed to Thailand tomorrow bright and early (rumor has it there is Pizza Hut in one of the airports). I would love to hear from you and be praying for you so don't hesitate to send me an email update!

Love from Nepal,

Lizi
