Passport Spring Semester 2015 Launch

Today we sent out 75 college age students to Africa, Asia and Central/South America. The primary team I am working with will spend their time loving children who call a Nicaraguan orphanage their home.

This past week was spent preparing these students for months ahead. We taught them about their identity (as we shared our own journey), we encouraged them to think bigger than themselves (as we pushed ourselves to do the same), we showed them the love of the Father (through His current work in us), and together we sought His growing presence in our lives.

The orphans these students are about to pour into are desperate for some of these same, basic truths. They want to know that they are valuable, that they are significant, and that they are loved. But I’m learning that we cannot simply teach them these things. We must walk out the truth in our own lives and then invite them to join us.

And that’s why our four-day training camp was filled with this very content. As these participants received this truth for themselves, they are now prepared to invite others to walk in it as well.

As you find yourself officially or organically leading people (co-workers, children, friends etc.), may I encourage you to walk out exactly what you’re hoping they’ll learn? Because it’s then that you’ll see the transformation you’ve been hoping for. Yelling from the sidelines isn’t enough. We’ve got to get in the dirt ourselves and hold out our hands for them to join us in the learning process.

Our Passport Staff.  Passport is our college age missions program.

Maximus really enjoyed the week (our extrovert made a lot of new friends)!
