Hello everyone!!
The first month team leading has been an awesome experience so far with ministry, our group of guys, our squad, and my relationship with God. I would love to share what we’ve been up to and some of the highlights with all you guys.
We lived in Jeffery’s Bay which is on the Eastern Cape at a ministry called GLA (Global Leadership Academy). We spent our first few days breaking the ground to put up a school house. We started with just a piece of land and finished with about a 2 foot deep and 2 foot wide trench for the foundation. We then took a nice break from manuel labor and went to a camp called UCSA, which is a Christian youth camp, where we were camp leaders for about 4 days. It was such blast seeing people’s hearts change for God while having such a fun time with them. After that we went back to GLA and got back to work on the foundation of the school building. We poured cement into the trench and they build a brick foundation and then laid the log foundation, which all took about a week or so. We did some other things here and there and had some adventures of cliff jumping and surfing but that about sums up the first few weeks.
We headed to awakening after that, which is when there is a couple squads in the same region that meet up and worship together and share stories and encourage each other and have sessions and what not and it was such a great time. We evangelized at a mall one day and I got the amazing opportunity to see the same person that my dad and I saw last year during PVT when he came to South Africa. It was so cool because we shared the gospel with him last year, and to see him again and encourage him and pray with him again was wonderful, God is crazy. After awakening we had our month one debrief where we reflect on the first month and catch up on rest and just fellowship together as a squad. During debrief we also had amazing opportunities to share the gospel with people in the city while out getting dinner. We met one guy whose name was Reagan, and went into a local supermarket to buy him some bread and water. He was asking questions about Jesus and we were able to share so much truth with him because he was so hungry for it. I’ll never forget him saying, “How can I have this relationship with Jesus?” That made me overjoyed! He gave his life to Christ that night and it was so genuine, so beautiful. We finished up debrief and came to Johannesburg which is where we are now. I’m back at Impact Africa, which is the same ministry I was at last year! I’m so excited for the guys because God grew me so much here last year, and I know they’re going to grow too. Our first day of evangelism here was amazing. I I love it so much just going out into the communities and spreading God’s love, and seeing God work in people’s hearts.
We’re actually only here for a couple days, and then they’re taking us on a little trip to Durban, about 4 hours away, to do ministry there for 10 days. We will be putting on assemblies in schools, so we share the gospel through the everything skit, we explain the skit and someone shares their testimony, and then someone shares the gospel. We also did it last year and it was some of the most memorable ministry I was apart of so I’m so excited to go back.
That’s a decent recap of my first month here in South Africa. It has been awesome helping lead the guys, it’s such a solid, fun group. Also God has been working in me a ton, which is awesome because I was so focused on the guys I forgot I was going to grow and learn a lot too haha.
Thanks for reading and thank you for your support. Thank you for all your prayers too! Keep my squad and team in your prayers as we continue ministry here in South Africa the next couple months,
God bless:)
