Hey Family and Friends!
God is so good! I want to first invite you to my college graduation; On Saturday, May 7th, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Georgia Dome, I will be graduating with Honors from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology! God is ever so faithful. You may be wondering what the next step for me will be. This past fall, God laid on my heart to go on a mission trip. However, I had already decided that my next step was graduate school, so God’s plans were going to have to wait.
In January, I attended Passion 2016 Conference and the Lord spoke and convicted me! Throughout the entire conference, the Lord kept laying on my mind missions! At the conference, Christine Caine explained that to run the race that God has for us we must lay aside “weight and sin” that hinder us from living in God’s will (Hebrews 12:1). She went on and explained that weights can even be good things. Good ambitions, good relationships, and good plans can hinder us from running our race if they aren’t God’s will for our lives. At that moment, I knew that I had to lay aside my good plans for graduate school, and pick up God’s plan for me!
So what is God’s plan for me? It’s called the World Race, and it is through the non-profit organization Adventures in Mission. Starting in August of 2016, I hope to serve in 11 different countries in 11 months. The countries are Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Haiti and Dominican Republic.
One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and reflect the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
The most important thing that I am going to need during this season is consistent prayer; Prayers of strength, discipline, safety, and unwavering faith for my team and I.
The greatest challenge that I am having is financially. To leave fully funded by August 2016, I will need to raise $16,961. That is a lot of money; however that cost will take care of all of my field expenses (lodging, transportation, and food).
My first fundraising deadline is Friday, May 13th, 2016, and I must have $5,000 in my account by that day in order to go to training camp in June. I have raised around $1,900 (God is good!), which means I need to raise $3,100 in less than 3 weeks.
