Crazy stories of overcoming obstacles to share the gospel are of plenty throughout the race. Haiti seems to have my favorite moment where the Spirit interceded to use me for an amazing opportunity for the gospel. Who could have known that on Tuesday April 5th, 2016 that I’d be told be the Spirit to climb a 10 foot wall and bring a family to the Lord.

I have been in Haiti all month and this month my ministry has been all over the place. It’s been mostly loving on kids at an orphanage and helping a short term missions team from the U.S. set up revival services. From April 4th-6th we had three straight nights of church. Our ministry contact (Tim) had rented out a small area to have the church and evangelize. The area had a giant wall surrounding it and a driveway for people to walk in who wanted to come.

When we we started church the first night we had around 100 people show up, but I knew we could get more. As the service went on I looked over and saw some kids sitting on a wall just kind of wondering what was going on. I went over to try to talk to them but conversation was difficult because they knew little English.

The next night before service I made them a priority. As we showed up, the kids were on the wall again. So I decided I was going to jump over the wall. Thats what I did! I jumped grabbed the top of the wall and pulled myself over. I discovered later that I got myself a few scrapes and bruised but that’s ok. As i got to the other side. I saw that there was a multitude of children, so I began to sing and play with them to build a small relationship. In time one of the parents came over and knew enough English to talk to me. I told him about our church service and what we were doing and he decided to come.

Soon after I realized the family could not get to the gate that entered into our church service. I would have to climb the wall to help them hear the word. Church started and here they came one after another. I’d have to climb the wall and pull them over. Most of them kids, but a couple of parents who made going over the wall interesting. All of them hungry to hear what the Lord had to say.

I knew it was important for them to hear the gospel but I didn’t know how important until the end of our second service. At the end of our second service 27 of the 30 people I pulled over the wall came to know the Lord. All that I wanted was for them to hear the word. Who would have known that my action would help prepare them for eternity and not trapped on the other side.
