Hi friends and family! I would like to tell you a quick story of what happened just before our squad left for Asia.

It was the night of the lip sync battle and all was crazy in the house. My team was assigned One Direction’s “Best Song Ever,” and we were determined to win. On our first run through we were at the best part of the song and my friend Erin went up to do her dance solo. But life…it’s hard.

We heard a disconcertingly loud pop and watched as Erin hit the ground. After a taxi call, a hospital visit, some heavy painkillers, and a lip sync battle lost, we found out that Erin had torn her meniscus.

Being the detail-oriented person that I am, I automatically started thinking of all the troubles that were to ensue as we prepared for a five-day travel period to Malaysia. Erin certainly wouldn’t be carrying her 40-pound pack and running through airports during short layovers now. I was seeing wheelchair rides and squad members trying to carry 80+ pounds of luggage.

But this isn’t a story of how a squad came together to overcome adversity. No. Because our God is a God of miracles. In this story, Erin was prayed over. I’m not saying it worked the first time, or even the second time. But after the third time of praying for healing, my friend stood up and walked without pain. She was able to carry her own weight during travel days and even ran in an airport.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen the Lord heal on the Race and I’m convinced it won’t be the last. I tell this story to simply remind you that our God does work miracles. I find most Christians believing miracles were just incredible events in the Bible and “things like that” don’t happen anymore.

But listen. I’m not being naïve, and even if I were, God tells us to have a child-like faith. Most Christians don’t believe miracles take place anymore because they don’t ask for them to take place. God gave us an INCREDIBLE gift when he gave us “all power under heaven and Earth.” We have all the power in the world just by uttering the name of Jesus and we don’t use it.

Furthermore, God honors those who boldly plead at his throne. We see this in the Old Testament time and time again when Moses came before God on behalf of the Israelites. When God was determined to destroy them, Moses was able to intercede and change the Lord’s plan on their behalf.

Even Erin said, “I don’t understand. I don’t believe in this kind of thing.” And even I have a hard time understanding it. It doesn’t make sense that her muscle could be separated from her knee one minute and then she could run on it the next. It truly doesn’t make sense, but I think that’s one of the reasons God does it. He likes to remind us what it is to fear Him as we try to comprehend our complete lack of understanding of his superiority.

I suppose all this to say: Be Bold. Miracles happen all over the world. Yesterday and tomorrow and 2,000 years ago and today. You need only have the courage to ask.
