Last month I began to memorize scripture again to help renew my mind with truths that God has declared to us. One of the verses I memorized was
psalm 37:4
Take delight in the lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
This month in the Philippines while digging through hundreds of boxes to assure each child that has signed up for our Christmas event gets the perfect shoe box that has been filled for them this verse came to life for me.
Sweat pouring down my face and my muscles beginning to ache I found myself wanting to stop and complain. But instead I decided to pray and have a conversation with God. Instantly, he brought to my mind.
Ashley, your dream is coming true as we speak. That dream you had years ago of being able to actually hand these children the shoes boxes you and your family have filled for years. You get to do that tomorrow.
Ironically, that same day this was my daily devotion:
Bring Me all your concerns, including your DREAMS. Talk with Me about everything, letting the Light of My Presence shine on your hopes and plans. Spend time allowing My Light to infuse your dreams with life, gradually transforming them into reality. This is a very practical way of collaborating with Me. I, the Creator of the universe, have deigned to co-create with you.
Handing the gifts to the children was just one dream come true. But being a small part of a ministry like The Lighthouse that has impacted a community that has faced so much tragedy is indescribable. Tears filled our eyes as we passed out food and drinks to the kids realizing we have just enough food for each of them. In that moment I was overwhelmed by the presence of God.
God continues to renew my mind and heart through these experiences. My view on the real meaning of Christmas has been changed. The hours were long and it was blistering hot but it was worth every second of it to see those smiling faces look up at you.
How lucky are we that we get to co-create with the Creator of the universe. Dream big and take delight in the Lord. He will give you the desires of your heart and make your dreams come true.
