Note: I started writing this blog last month and am just now finishing it. After having just posted a blog about only showing shiny moments…. here is a blog about all our shiny moments in Albania.
Long time no blog! So we only have a week left here in Albania and I am just now getting around to writing a blog. As racers we are technically supposed to blog 4 times a month *insert hysterical laughter*. Yea that totally happens. When they ask us that question on our post Debrief surveys I always check the “I don’t blog 4 times a month but I blog regularly”. That’s not a total lie…
Anyway, lots to update on. Got a new team, changed continents, ate dark chocolate for the first time since Central America, which catches you up on all the important life events. But on a more serious note God really has been teaching me a lot and it’s a pretty accurate statement to say I’m a completely different person than who I was when I left the states. To give you my itemized list of all the ways I have seen God move and speak into my life would take about 40 years. Ain’t nobody got time for that. However I would like to share a little highlights reel from our month in Albania:
-We were living and working at a Bible school called Christ for the Nations which among other things meant we got to spend time around people our age. They were super fun to be around and before long we were all picking on each other like siblings.
-Mountains, mountains everywhere.
-Cold.
-Don’t get me wrong, I love kids ministry. But only doing it a couple times over the course of the month was a nice break. And the kids we worked with were super well behaved and really excited about learning the creation story (at least they were when I was with the 3-7 yr olds).
-So cold.
-Worship. Not only did we have worship with the students every morning but we got lots of chances to have worship as a team. For one of our team times we kidnapped a guitar and had worship/prayer by the lake.
That same team time Jules had us pick up stones to represent something that we wanted to leave behind and then we threw them into the lake, never to be seen again.
-Cold. So. So Cold.
-Pastries, so many delicious pastries. And chocolate. Some days at the school we would have plates of chocolate with our mid morning coffee break. Also when you order hot chocolate they literally give you a cup of melted chocolate.
-Adventure days. We got the chance to go to Macedonia and Greece which were both amazing and I may just up and move to either or both places.
So that’s Albania! I’m going to try and be better about blogging whilst we are here in Bosnia but till then may the Lord bless you and keep you!
