I made it to Kenya!! I’m living with the Maasai Tribe and it is incredible. Being here makes bible stories come alive! Young shepherd boys heard sheep, goats, and cattle across the valley every day.

Traditionally the Maasai people are wrapped in red cloth as clothes with beautifully handmade jewelry hanging from their ears and necks. The bathroom is a hole in the ground… or the ground itself. Traditionally Maasai live in houses built of cow poo and sticks. Even in the light of day it is as dark as night inside their tiny homes.

Just a few minutes’ walk away there is a wildlife reserve where zebras, giraffes, lions, antelope, and all the many animals that make you think “Africa,” thrive and live.

There is no light, no electricity, no sky scrapers. God’s creation is on display both night and day. At night you can see how the Milky Way galaxy swirls in outer-space as the billions of stars twinkle. In the distance you can see the lightning striking on the other side of the mountain.

BUT

The most beautiful part of this land is how the believers here Love and Worship the one true God. The church is ALIVE here but there is a lot of work to be done in spreading the Gospel here in Maasai land. Christianity was brought to this area through a pastor from another area who was introduced to Christianity through missionaries who came to his village. However, in this village we are only the second group of missionaries who have ever come to be with these people! The 1st group was our friends on The World Race who came last month.

It blows my mind that hundreds of thousands of “white people,” come here every year but not one “white” missionary has ever come to share the gospel with these amazing people. It is a big deal to the people here that white people would want to share life with them. It is a big deal to them that white people would want to know their names and meet their families, not just for pictures but because we truly care.
