Nepal. We have finally made it to this beautiful land. Actully, beautiful might be an understatement, but never the less you get my drift. Mountains abound everywhere with such a breathtaking landscape. The people…I have not even been here that long but find them to be incredible!

As a squad we knew without a doubt that Satan did not want us in India, but we have seen first hand how much more he does not want us in Nepal. Get strapped in because we are about to go one crazy journey.

During the middle of our time in India, we found out that our 3 day train ride from Hydrabed, India to Kathmandu, Nepal was no longer in the playing cards for us. Our logistics and squad leaders were working feriously behind the scence to make things happen for us. No trains were available, direct flights were too far out of our budget, and the buses were too pricey. We knew without a doubt that we had been called to Nepal.

So we engaged in the next best thing…PRAYER.

Sure enough God is faithful and found us the means to get to Nepal. Praise Him!!

Our adventure started with 3 different flights from Hydrabed to Dehli, India on April 28th. The first group left our compound where we stayed for debrief at 10 a.m. Then my crew was next at 5 p.m. Finally the thrid group left at 3:30 a.m. on April 29th.

Beacuse we live on a budget, right, we spent the night in the airport. What an adventure that was! We had this entire area sectioned off for us with sleeping mats laid out. Since my flight didn’t get in until 10 pm we were a little hungry. Surprise, surprise, all the food was outside of the airport and once you left there was no coming back in. Well, trying to work our magic, Kels, Gina and I went up to sweet talk the guards. First guard was not budging so we decided to go to a different door and turn up our A-game. After a little sweet talking and 5 guards surrounding us, they let us go get food. Talk about the FAVOR of the Lord plus our mad skills!

Morning came and the rest of our squad had arrived. We loaded up the bus for what was to be a 12-15 hour drive from Dehli to Kathmandu, but then one big surprise came via Ryan. Of course it couldn’t be 15 hours, it had to be 33 hours on a bus. April fools on us! On top of that the border always shuts down at 8 p.m. so we’d have to wait until morning. Travel days…YES!!

Well that was no problem for us because it didn’t look like we were going to be getting anywhere fast. Somewhere around 11 pm out of no where our bus slams on its breaks. A few seconds later this huge truck slams into the back of us. Awesome! Praise the Lord no one on our bus or in the other vehicle were hurt at all. However, I think they forgot to calculate this mishap in our 33 hour bus ride…
bus accident

When morning hit, we still had not reached the border. Who knows what was going on. I think our driver just decided to drive along it. Ha! Finally, we arrived at the border and switched out buses. All was going well until we got closer to our destination. The bus driver would not take us to our destination and all this chaos happened. So close, but yet so far. Fourty-five and a half hours later, the favor of the Lord showered down and we arrived at our hostel for the night.

Travel days, oh the bliss! 16 hours in an airport plus 45.5 hours on a bus, what more could a world racer wish for?! At least now traveling in the states won’t be as bad. A ten hour trip will seem like nothing!!
