It’s Easter Sunday here in Nepal!

I’m not wearing a pretty dress, quite the opposite actually.  There are no lilies in sight, and we don’t have an Easter brunch planned or BBQ. We don’t even have church this morning.

At first I was panicked. I wanted to put something together, to honor this day. I wanted to check the box, and do what you are supposed to do on Easter. I was afraid if I didn’t do something, today wouldn’t count.

Then it hit me. Without all that stuff I am able to take time to focus on what today is really about. It’s not about pastel ties or baskets and eggs. It’s not about getting the little ones to sit quiet or making enough food.

It’s about Jesus!

Today is about the Cross and today I am not letting religion or tradition get in the way of my remembering that. Today I have no distractions, I just have Jesus.

This also made me think of the world race. As racers we often look around and wonder what’s the point- why are we here? The answer is Easter. We are here or the race, on earth to share the good news of Easter morning!

The point is he rose. The point is he is NOT dead and the world needs to hear that. Everyday is about sharing with someone that the tomb is empty and that means everything.

The empty tomb means freedom, it means forgiveness. The third day means each day is new and we can live in relationship with our savior!!

So, since it’s Easter eve for you and maybe you’ll read this sometime before church.. don’t let all the little things get in the way of your real purpose tomorrow-remembering that Jesus lived and dies and ROSE for you. You are cleansed, you are forgiven now and forever.. AMEN.

Also let’s use more exclamation point because Jesus is alive and that’s reason to exclaim and celebrate!!

Give each other grace today, since that’s what today is all about and celebrate well.

He is Risen.
