Ah life on the World Race. It’s filled with big awesome holy smokes God is so amazing that I just have to blog about it right this instant moments, and I love it, but often in blogosphere it’s easy for me to overlook those “this is just normal life” moments that fill up a huge chunk of my time. So, over this past week, armed with my trusty ipod I set out to document as many moments of our week as possible, and boy did I pick a doozy of a week, mostly because it involved a lot of puking… from 5 people…
1. Buildings in Tirana all have fun paint jobs 2. For the past two weeks our job with CRU was magazine saleswomen 3. And Lauren rocked at her magazine presentation 4. On monday we got to take our magazine sales to a university in seaside Durres
5. Which was so pretty to look at 6. Alysa made new friends in Durres, like Cinderella 7. All sandwiches, including hamburgers come stuffed with french fries, and are best washed down with Exotic Fanta 8. Lunch money for the week and the 5000 lek bill ($50) features our favorite Albania hero, Scanderberg
9. Catching up on blogs because we all know how important that is 10. After extreme sickness the night before (I spared you pictures of that) it was time for rehydration 11. Crepes are a popular choice for meals around here 12. I love the laundry hanging from the buildings in Student City, where we go to get lunch everyday 13. Working as greeters for the weekly Campus Crusade college meeting is a good time to make new friends 14. We had more than 200 college students at our weekly meeting 15. After an awesome dance to Chris Brown’s “Forever” we were a little exhausted 16. Going out for coffee with the CRU staff after the meeting 17. Kaitlyn loves crepes most of all
18. After my brush with sickness on Tuesday Annee came down with it on Thursday, so we decided to take her to the hospital to get her to get checked out just in case it was a parasite… it wasn’t… 19. It was actually a virus, because by the end of the week 5 out of 7 of us had it 20. The nasty electrolyte solution they gave us to take, mixed with crystal light it was bearable 21. Crazy building in our area. Teens like to climb up to the top of it 22. Used booksellers are everywhere 23. Can I just say 99% of Albanian young men look like models? 24. We walked around for more than an hour in search of a spa Kaitlyn had heard of 25. We didn’t find it and were excited to find benches to rest our feet 26. The main square in Tirana complete with a statue of our favorite Skanderbeg. There was a ton of construction going on.
27. Kaitlyn, Lauren and I spent the afternoon walking around Tirana 28. Internet time in the Campus Crusade headquarters 29. Delicious snacks for our movie. I’m gonna miss the Milka bars 30. Almost all movies in Albania are in english, so we treated ourselves to “The Three Musketeers” 31. My movie popcorn was very patriotic… for America 32. Sunday morning church 33. A gourmet meal for world racers 34. The best cheesecake in the world, just sayin
So welcome to our life in Albania. Life has been pretty simple and low-key this month, but that kind of month was well needed. Stay tuned for more blogs on our life and ministry!
