What a week (and a half) it has been!

My first week in Chile was spent with Team Agape Vita. Below is some of their team. 🙂

They are incredible team with so much joy and I had so much fun serving along side of them! We were partnered with House of Hope outside of Santiago. House of Hope is a home that houses girls who have aged out of the orphanages, have unhealthy living situations at home, or no where else to go.

As long as you are pursuing your education, you are able to stay at House of Hope. It was an incredible house filled with love and Jesus.

In the mornings, we went to a local school to help out and sit in on their classes. The schools teachers are incredible and, they adored each and every one of their students! All of the students have some sort of learning or physical disability. The kids were so much fun to hang out with. My favorite part of school was recess- we would have dance parties, swing on the swing set, or play tag.

I was so attached to one of the boys there, he has Williams Syndrome, which I had never heard of. It is a developmental disorder that affects many parts of his body. He has mild to moderate learning disability, a unique personality characteristics, and cardiovascular problems. He is eight years old, runs on his toes, and makes noises like daffy duck! He loved when you let him try and balance on your legs – he was really good at it too! He would eventually fall on top of you though and start to giggle quack. He was the sweetest of boys! (see picture below)

My heart wasn’t ready to leave- the team, the children, or the girls at House of Hope. Yet here I am, in Antofagasta, about to join a different team, a different ministry for a week before we head to debrief and have the entire squad back together for a couple of days.

It’s hard investing in people – yet so easy and honestly fun for me. It‘s something I desire so much, getting to know people. But then I leave and I have this ache that only the Lord can fill.

He is the only one I can trust to take the pain away.

This is what he has called me into and I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to invest in so many different people. I trust him and his plan.

Thank you for making this all possible. These moments with team Agape Vita, House of Hope, and the children at the school. THANK YOU for your prayers and your financial support! I am currently 42% funded, Praise God! Only $3,500 left to raise!

Until next time,

Alyssa
