Hello from Colombia!

This month is all squad month so naturally we are all snuggled up in tight corders! Loosing your personal space cultivates closeness, quickly!

Ciudad Refugio is an incredible organization that has so many different ministries running out of it. They have a school during the day for children of different ages, church services in the evenings and on Sunday, a rehabilitation center for people recovering from drug and alcohol abuse, weekly outreaches for children in a local town, and they provide a place for homeless people to sleep each night.

Last weekend I helped out a day camp that Ciudad Refugio puts on each week. We walked around the little town reminding them that tomorrow the day camp was happening, the town is a hill that has beautiful views of Medellin.

The next day, we rounded up the children. The volunteers are INCREDIBLE. They know the children’s names, where they live, and some of the children wait outside their house expectantly to be picked up on Saturday mornings.

We were split up into four different age groups and shared on Matthew 11:28 “Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” I shared a short testimony about the difference between physical fatigue and mental fatigue. Some of the kids opened up about their struggles and we ended the lesson with prayer over some of the children who felt weary.

The organization collects clothing donations and we were able to hand each child a new outfit! Their faces lit up and they just kept saying “muy linda” which means very cute!

Below is a picture of three best friends after they received their new outfits!

This organization is doing great things! I have loved partnering with them.

Couple of updates:

– I am fully funded for my 5 months on the field! Praise God!! Thank you to everyone who has helped reach that goal and make all of this possible!

– We leave for Rwanda TOMORROW!

– I only have 6 weeks left on the field! How is that possible?!

Thank you for following along!

Until next time,

Alyssa
