Training Camp was probably some of the best and worst ten days of my life. I was met with exhaustion, fears, and doubts. I was also met with triumph, victory, and love. There was so much rich and useful information packed into the ten days, but it was a bit overwhelming. Preparing for a nine month mission trip in ten days is as hard as it sounds. I am very thankful I went but I am also very thankful that it’s over. There is so much stuff jumbled in my brain, so I decided to list 100 things that I learned…
1. Training camp will push you to your limit physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
2. Life with God is a journey.
3. It’s important to choose growth in the midst of obstacles.
4. Peace & fear cannot share the same space.
5. Salvation is free but living in the kingdom will cost everything.
6. Always zip up your rain fly.
7. Sabbath day is the best day.
8. Feedback is helpful.
9. You were created to be a vessel of light that carries the presence of God.
10. Seek to understand.
11. The Spirit of God is in you.
12. We cannot evangelize & antagonize at the same time.
13. If you can’t love yourself, you can’t love your neighbors. If you can’t love your neighbors, you can’t love Christ.
14. God is for everyone.
15. I love Squad W with my whole entire heart.
16. Let God.
17. The Lord is our Good Shepherd.
18. Hammocks are a great place for a nap.
19. The kingdom is only and all about Him.
20. Honor is the currency of heaven.
21. The purpose of His will is to praise & glorify His name.
22. Mel Wells is a stinky girl.
23. Most cultures fall under three categories: fear/power, guilt/innocence, and shame/honor.
24. Never eat a black egg.
25. We demonstrate love when we truly listen to people.
26. There is a difference between surrender & commitment.
27. Be the least.
28. Discipline yourself.
29. Walk in obedience.
30. Leaving your camera on an AIM shuttle is the absolute worst.
31. There is always hope in Jesus.
32. May & Lana are the best choreographers I know.
33. We are chosen, in Jesus, before the foundations of the world.
34. The Lord reveals Himself through and in different ways.
35. Squad W is going to Malaysia!!!
36. My God is a God of peace.
37. Planting seeds is just as important as bearing fruit.
38. Have a YES in your spirit.
39. The Lord is not just after your worship, He’s after you.
40. KJ is who to thank for all the thunderstorms.
41. Since creation, God’s desire is for His likeness to fill the earth.
42. Forgiveness comes in stages.
43. When I am weak, He is strong.
44. Not one phrase or word of the Bible goes void.
45. Be the Church.
46. God is bigger!!!
47. Wearing chacos for a two mile hike will result in blisters.
48. Do not interpret others’ actions by your own cultural values.
49. Forgiveness paves your path to destiny with Christ.
50. Team 3.2 is the bestest ever.
51. Be willing.
52. Prayer is powerful.
53. Your whole life gets to be a sacrifice.
54. Carrying your chair everywhere you go gets old, after a while.
55. Culture is the connection & relationship between beliefs, values, & actions.
56. Rest.
57. Crickets are an awful snack.
58. Feedback is holding up a mirror & calling people higher.
59. Discover Christ, Become Christ, & Show Christ.
60. Georgia’s weather & humidity is ridiculously awful.
61. Appreciate cultural differences.
62. Surrender everything to Him because without Him we’re nothing.
63. Abide in the Father & get to know Him.
64. Bucket showers are actually refreshing.
65. God’s love for us is incomprehensible.
66. The Bible is God in words.
67. Resist the devil.
68. God has gone before me & prepared the places I will go.
69. I probably won’t make it nine months without chick fil a.
70. The Bible is a plumb-line for our life.
71. The Lord chose us to be the indwelling of His Holy Spirit.
72. No one in my squad knows how to start a fire lol.
73. “Go. Be fruitful. Multiply & fill the earth.”
74. The main theme of the Bible is reconciliation.
75. The daddy long legs in GA are much bigger than the ones in AZ.
76. The Gospel is the power of Christ.
77. God sees us as a mighty warrior of God.
78. Be a voice. Not an echo.
79. Mosquitos love Anna Bearss.
80. Ephesians 1:4-10 is God’s purpose.
81. The goal of the Bible is relationship.
82. Jesus is worthy of my sacrifice because He gave it all.
83. You are born again in the kingdom of God.
84. Squad W’s leadership is the BEST.
85. I can live off of White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif bars for the rest of my life.
86. You love, the Holy Spirit convicts, Jesus heals, & God judges.
87. Inhaling large amounts of flour is not very fun.
88. Everything you do gets to be worship.
89. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
90. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
91. My God is a Redeemer.
92. Missions is the plan of God to bring about the purpose of God.
93. If you’re not willing to forsake it all, you cannot be a disciple.
94. You are an ambassador of Christ at all times.
95. Spending your eighteenth birthday on the last day of training camp is the way to go.
96. Be thankful.
97. Your identity is found in Christ.
98. Be where your feet are & live in the moment.
99. Your responsibility is to obey.
100. I was made for this.
