Over the past few weeks I have been asking God to give me inspiration for a new blog post. There are hundreds of things I could share with you guys, but I kept waiting.
This morning through the text message of my sweet friend Amy, God gave me this post. I think I can honestly say what was in that text message has changed my life. Certainly my perspective. It was a sudden and blunt reminder of the brevity of life here on earth, and how the Lord really does use EVERYTHING for good and for His glory.
Let me break here for a moment to tell you a little bit about what it means to be a part of The World Race. Once you sign up and start to interact with your future squad-mates, you immediately feel a connection and sense of community like never before. My squad and I have been communicating through Facebook for a few months now and I already feel like they are my family. We pray for one another, laugh and cry with one another, and give out love and support for each other like it’s our full time job. I can speak truthfully and say that without having met any of my squad-mates before, I love them. The World Race is a journey. A very complex, exciting, and scary journey. However, it gives me great joy to know that 36 other people from around the US (and South Africa) are going to be with me on this journey every step of the way.
This morning at 5:37 I woke up to a text message. It contained a video from The World Race youtube channel. The video tells the story of Anastasia Sloan and how she traveled to 11 countries in 11 months, but in a very different way than most. It tells the story of the greatness of God’s plan for our lives here on earth and how He can use us even after we are gone. It is a story of the strong bond between world racers. A story of love, boldness, and legacy.
This story hit me hard. I am only 4 months away from launch. God has reminded me through this video that no matter how bold, brave, or faithful I am. He is in control and His plan will be fulfilled.
