First, I would like to give my apologies for a very late blog. We arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on Thursday November 9th, and our very caring ministry hosts picked us up from the airport and drove us to our new home. David and Scarleth have warmly welcomed us into their home to disciple us while we have the opportunity to serve them. Praise the Lord for a wonderful home full of the Lord’s presence and peace.
We are living in The Valley of Angeles and it could not have a better name. The air is clean and crisp. The weather is beautiful and cool. The awesome view is filled with pine trees everywhere and colorful leaves that have fallen on the ground.
Our ministry for now is helping at a special needs orphanage. Almost similar to a nursing home in the way it is set up, this place has so much of God’s joy flowing through it. We take about a fifteen minute walk through the amazing scenery each day to be welcomed by some of the sweetest people I have ever met and the coolest sounds of sheep right outside the front gate! Actual sheep!!! Jesus is so known here in this orphanage and His love shines so brightly through the residents I feel as if I could walk into a room and see Him standing there!
This week we have been rolling lots and lots and lots of yarn into balls and then organizing it! What could easily seem so unimportant feels like a gift to be doing with some of the best teammates ever. Part of what this orphanage does is create crafts to sell in town to help support themselves. The residents crocheted rugs, purses, oven mitts, and all sorts of cool other things.
So far, this has been so rewarding and I am so excited to see what will come of our hard work in a few weeks. Thank you for all of your support and prayers it seriously means the world to me!
