Hello! My name is Alexa Prato. I’m 22 and a senior at University of Iowa studying International Health and Spanish. My dream is to attend medical school after the World Race to become one step closer to my future career in pediatrics! My eventual desire is to practice volunteer medicine abroad with organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse and Mercy Ships.

I currently live in Iowa while I attend college, but I grew up in the Chicago area suburbs. I am blessed to have a close relationship with two of the best parents a girl could ask for! I am so thankful that they are supporting me on this journey. I also have my dog, George, who is of course a part of the family! 🙂

A little about me: Some of my favorite things to do in my free time are volunteering, traveling, horseback riding, spending time with good friends, watching plays, swimming, reading, and really anything outside! My favorite holiday is Christmas, my favorite season is fall, my favorite food is ice cream, and my favorite movie is a tie between “Hello, Dolly” and any Disney movie.

More important than all of those to me, however, is my relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the rock I can always cling to, the friend I can always confide in, and the greatest blessing in my life. I am so grateful that I am able to know His love, and experience the hope and joy that His love brings to my life! My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”.

During my time at college, my relationship with Christ has grown closer. It may be my dream to be a physician, but I have an even greater dream that I may always go where God leads me and embrace His will for my life! And that leads me to the journey I am currently preparing for: The World Race. Over the past few months, I had been feeling increasingly called by the Lord to fully trust Him in engaging in mission work before attending medical school. Once I learned of the World Race, I knew that this was the program God was calling me to serve with!

Please pray that I may prepare my heart for God to be able to use me to change lives while on the field.

Thank you all for reading a little more about me; be sure to check out my blog posts as I prepare for my departure (and while on the mission field)!

Blessings,

Alexa
