Yep, that’s exactly what happened to me.
Last week our host, and the Pastor of the church we are working with, asked our team to have two people share a testimony and one person give a message on Saturday night for the youth/young adult group. Ashley and Kirby volunteered to give their testimony, then by divine intervention, I heard myself saying that I would give the message.
What? Me? Did I really just say that? God……what are you doing?
For those who know me, you understand that I get really anxious and nervous about speaking to groups of people, especially in a church setting. However, the Lord told me that I was going to be the first to preach from our team on this trip.
Surprisingly, once I had agreed, I wasn’t all that worried. I actually waited till the end of the week to write out a message. That way, I wouldn’t spend all week thinking on it.
Our host asked that I speak on the importance of sharing our faith with others. God brought to light 2 Timothy 4:1-8 and 2 Timothy 1:7-8 for me to share.
Before I got up to preach, God and I had a great talk about me surrendering my words over to Him and allowing the Spirit to take over and speak through me. He told me that I have a Spirit of Power, Love, and Self-Discipline….woah, that’s exactly what I was going to talk about! Thanks God!
I could go on forever about that sweet moment God and I shared in that moment before I got up preach. Just know, that everything I was about to share with the group, God was reminding me of. He told me to be bold and fearless in the Spirit and share my faith.
So I did. And I was.
Once I got up to speak, I knew God was holding my hand. He was giving me the words and I couldn’t wait to speak them out loud. I spoke out of a Spirit of Power, not a spirit of fear. I just relished in the moment I had up there with God, and I was overcome with joy!
God taught me that I do not have to have all the words, or worry about whether I am qualified to preach or not. He taught me to rely on Him and speak out in faith. Speak out and live as a child of God who has the Holy Spirit alive in them.
I end saying this, God’s Word is true. His promises are true. We are filled with the Holy Spirit and we are guided by God’s right hand!
