If you would have asked me a year ago what college I wanted to go to, I would have told you …”I have no idea.” If you would have asked me what I was planning on majoring in… I would have told you….”I’m going in undecided.” Well everyone, by the hand of God, not anymore!! Here’s how I figured it all out!!
I have always had wanderlust sparked inside my soul since I was little, but now it has turned into a full blown fire!!! I went to Vietnam this past March, and I miss the country and its culture more than anything!!! God always places a certain “tug” on my heart whenever He wants me to listen closely to his voice. This certain feeling did not go away for a couple months after Vietnam. I could not seem to figure out what He was trying to tell me!! After lots and lots of prayer, an email about a “gap year” popped up on my phone. So one night , I stayed up and at five o’clock in the morning, I ended up researching gap years, and God directed me into the hands of the World Race!! I met up with Luke Troyanek, who went on the World Race the year before, to get a better feel about what it was, and what I would be doing. After I got done talking to him, I asked God for a sign that this is really what he had planned for my life. While I was working, Luke’s mom walks in to my Publix, and asks me about what I thought about the World Race. Mid conversation I hear God’s voice saying, “this is your sign, GO.” I couldn’t be more excited to take on this journey to not only bring people closer to the Lord, but also enhance my relationship with him.
After the World Race, I am excited to say I will be a Choctaw!! I will be attending Mississippi College, and going into International Business!! I will also be taking a class where I will learn to teach people English who do not speak English!! When I went to Vietnam, I got the privilege to sit in on an English school for kids, and I fell in love with it!! On the three hour train ride back to Danang, Vietnam from Hue, a teacher from the States sat by me, and I got to hear about what it is like to teach in a foreign country! To her it was probably just small talk, but to me it helped shaped my passion for going international!! On the World Race, part of my ministry will be teaching English, so I will get a taste of what it is like for when I do it as a living!! It’s crazy how God’s plan works, and becomes revealed to us in HIS time!

This verse brings me so much peace!! This world is wayyyy to chaotic, and unexpected to try and take everything on by ourselves. God has a wonderful and sovereign plan for each and every person!! He will equip us for everything we go through, and He will be by our side every step of the way. All we have to do is place in his hands our full trust!!
