Yebo!! A siswati word/phrase that pretty much means yes!! Or yeah buddy, or ohh yes!! Pretty much saying yes, but saying it all in! 100%. We love yebo.
Something I’ve learned and now share is about being all in and saying “yes” to God. Following Jesus means you have to say yes to Him and what He has for you.
Think of it this way, if you don’t say yes, what are you saying? Plainly said it’s always a yes or no answer. Maybe later’s and not being sure isn’t an answer. It’s an all in, 1000% yes, or just a no.
Going off of this mindset changes how you see and think about life. The Lord doesn’t give us “wishy washy” promises so we shouldn’t give him “wishy washy” answers.
It’s in this space where faith steps in. When we don’t have confidence or it seems unreasonable we need to have faith to say yes anyway. Faith is saying yes to the unknown and unseen but knowing that God is working in all of it, setting everything out before you.
This is a lot easier said than done but just imagine for a moment if you actually said yes to something the Lord has for you. Not letting your own doubts or logical thinking get in the way for a second. It blows me away when I can dream with the Lord in faith. It means saying yes to just following him and continuing to walk in obedience in the small and big things. Saying yes when He asks you to give away your time, or money, or resources even when you don’t have to.
For me, saying yes to the race and to team leading was hard. Hard to not do the normal thing people do after high school. And again taking another gap year after my gap year. I said yes to Jesus because I had faith that He was going to put me just where He needed me, and He has.
SO much starts to happen when you say yes and give more of your life to Jesus. That’s why I love the word Yebo. It’s a declaration of saying yes, I’m all in, I’m doing this thing. No more maybes. Just imagine this world when everyone starts walking in full faith. Crazy stuff, that’s what I imagine!
So go give it your all. Give Jesus your yes with no intention of taking it back. Give Him your yebo!
