You’re probably reading that like, “No duh Brynna,” but stick with me here.
Do you understand the intensity of that statement?
God used to walk among Adam and Eve in the garden, but once the fruit was eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, He no longer did. Adam and Eve hid when they heard God coming because they knew of their nakedness. Because of sin, we were no longer worthy to be in the presence of God. We corrupted the earth and put a separation between Heaven and Earth. Genesis 3:10
God started appearing to others in different ways. He spoke to Abraham through visions. He came down to Moses in a burning bush. He sent angels to speak to people. Or he would simply speak through prayer.
As the Israelites were being exiled from Egypt, God appeared to them as a cloud during the day and a column of fire at night to lead their way. YET, throughout this entire period, they often hardened their hearts and got frustrated when things didn’t happen immediately. They wanted to go back to the hurt and pain of Egypt’s rule. God fights for us every day and has already conquered all that is before us, why fight against Him? Exodus 13:21
The Israelites would only be able to talk to God in temples and tabernacles. And most were not worthy to enter the sacred place, but only a priest. When God was speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, a cloud of smoke covered the top of the mountain from the flame that God appeared in, and thunder was heard when God was speaking. Exodus 19:18For the first time since the Garden of Eden, God then soon appeared to Moses, but didn’t allow him to see His face. Following this, every time Moses would speak to him, he would be glowing.
The Israelites would perform different types of sacrifices in front of the temple that God instructed Moses to build. These sacrifices would leave a sweet aroma that God would smell in the heavens to recognize the offerings. We no longer have to do these sacrifices, but now our prayers burn as incense forever in heaven. Revelation 8:4
In order for God to save humanity from complete sin and darkness, God gave His only son to us as a human. Mary was the first chosen one, and through her, God brought heaven to earth again. Jesus was the perfect picture of what it was like to have heaven on earth. Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, but Jesus IS THE IMAGE OF GOD.
NOT ONLY did God send us Jesus as a human to be with us on earth, but after Jesus’s resurrection, God so loved us, that he sent the Holy Spirit to be WITHIN US. Each of us now brings a piece of heaven to earth. We no longer have to use temples or have to have clouds of fire appear to us because our body is the temple that God speaks to us through.
“The God who made the world and all that is in it, the Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands.” Acts 17:24
The more we dig deeper into faith and explore God’s kingdom the more we spread heaven among earth. This is why I love what I am doing. Every smile I share, every hug I embrace, all the words I speak, spread the kingdom of God. We are all CHOSEN to do the same. His love shines a light through us for all others to see, we’re glowing.
Galatians 5:13 “for you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather serve one another through love.“
