“I’ll hand all of this over to you, Lord – but I’ll figure ‘this one’ out on my own. “
My friends and I call it ‘partial surrender.’ The truth about surrendering though, is this: there is nothing partial about it.
The past few weeks have been trying. I hand a struggle over to the Lord, but then I find myself holding on to another. Why is it so difficult to let the God of the universe ‘just do His thing?’
I wake up each morning and ask God to use my life to glorify Him, but I find myself failing over and over again while attempting to glorify myself instead. And that is a hard statement to swallow.
But I am so grateful that I serve a God of second chances.
I’ve always liked fresh starts, new beginnings, new years, mondays, mornings, yah know…
And this is one of total surrender.
Lord, I give you ALL of my life. I am begging You to use it to bring You and only You all of the glory.
2017: No more of this partial stuff. Take it all. And build Your Kingdom.
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)
