Hello!
Wow! A lot has happened since the last time I wrote a blog. I’ve flown from Kathmandu, Nepal to Atlanta, Georgia and back. Then, a few days after returning back to Nepal, I continued on this journey with S Squad as we flew to Rwanda to start our four months in Africa!
I want to do my best to update you all on what life has looked like the last almost two months.
I got to fly home to the State’s last month for about a week, to be at one of my very best friend’s wedding while she married the guy of her dreams! We have been friend’s for many years and have talked and dreamed about this day since we were young. It was absolutely magical & dreamy to get to stand beside her on her wedding day. I couldn’t have imagined missing her big day & not being able to celebrate with them in person! I’m so thankful that the Lord saw fit for me to fly home for it. & here’s a picture of me with the absolute stunning & beautiful bride. :))
I also got to spend time resting (Praise the Lord) and visiting with family & friends. I got to see my sissy in person, while she’s pregnant, which was a prayer and longing of my heart. It was a super sweet week that went by way too fast. I’m beyond thankful & grateful for it!
& here’s a picture of my super cute pregnant sissy! You can call me Aunt Maddie now. 🙂
I returned back to Nepal for a few days that were spent leading a Mini Debrief, which is where the entire squad comes together for a short, two days, that are filled with teachings, celebrations, reflection, processing, and rest, before heading into the next month of the Race. This debrief was a little different then most though. We said ‘see you later’ to the other three squad leaders that I had been co-leading with for five months now. The squad celebrated us so well, with poems, raps, encouraging words, and stories from our time on the field with them. It was a sweet, sweet time, even though my heart was so sad to be saying ‘see you later’ to three of my greatest, forever friends. & here’s a picture of their beautiful faces! 🙂
We then started our pretty short travel to a our third continent of the Race, AFRICA! The place my heart feels the most alive and filled with joy. Our first stop is Rwanda! We’ve traveled to our ministry sites and have been settled in and doing ministry for almost three weeks now. I have absolutely fallen in complete love with this country and it’s people! Our ministry host are some of the greatest host’s I’ve had while on the field. We call them Dad Africa and Mom Africa. We live in their house with their three boys, while they’ve moved out and are sleeping in a room in the church next door… unbelievable! Who moves out of their house for an entire month to let seven woman move in?!?! Like I said, they are absolutely stunning! I have way more words to write about them, our ministry, Rwanda, and the faithfulness of God, but I will save that for another post in order to keep this one remotely short.
Today is our last day in Rwanda! *cue tears* Tomorrow we will travel to Uganda for a four day debrief before heading to our ministry sites for Month 7 of this Race! Wowza.
Please pray for our Squad! For travel tomorrow, for health, for debrief, & for ministry next month.
With a grateful heart,
Mads
