The day started off as normal as it could on the race..…

Stephen and I met at 2:30 to head to soccer practice and were going to meet up with one of the coaches from the Club. Jon Mario and Alex who both work here at the Club, discussed with the taxi driver where the practice was located and sent us on our way.

Stephen and I discussed what we would share with the kids on our way to the field and what practice might look like. We arrived to the field and no one was there, we  thought there might have been a misunderstanding and we got there early. The thought also crossed our mind that we are in Colombia and maybe they are just on Colombian time (always a bit late).

At this point it was 3:00 and there were a few kids, but none of them were a part of the team we were meeting up with and the coach was no where to be found. Stephen and I decided to wait a little longer and see if anyone showed up. If not then we would ask The Lord what we were supposed to do.

Time continued to pass and still no one showed. We started to talk with some of the kids and asked them if coaches from the club came there. They began to tell us that there was another field and that is where they thought they might be. We asked how close it was and they said super close. We continued asking questions and found out the field was 30 minutes away, not enough time to walk there and make it to practice.

I began asking The Lord why He had brought us to the wrong field. We had told the taxi driver to come back at 5:00 so we had over an hour at this place. What was His plan for this time and why had we been brought to this place where we had no idea where we were.

Kids started coming towards us and asking us questions. I began answering all sorts of questions ranging from where we were from to what are you doing here. I began to pray into this time and asked The Lord for opportunities to share with them and for Him to give me words to say. I had my backpack with me and one kid asked what was inside. I just smiled and said my bible is in there and pulled it out. They began to ask us to read to them. We began to read scripture and were able to share what we had talked about sharing in the taxi for the practice we thought we were going to. We got to spend an hour with ten plus kids loving on them and reading truth over them.

We thought we were going to meet up with a coach and play soccer. Little did we know that The Lord had something totally different planned for us. It was beautiful to watch The Lords’s plan unfold right before our eyes. We were able to talk to kids who might not have had the opportunity to be with a coach that leads them in scripture or prayer. We thought we showed up to the wrong place at the wrong time but we were exactly where we were supposed to be.
