Sorry I haven’t posted a blog in a while, but I just wanted to give y‘all a little update! After leaving Nepal, we landed in Nicaragua on March 6th and spent a couple of weeks there. We did all sorts of ministry around the city and sought out new opportunities to serve and love the community each day. We had the opportunity to work in a special needs school by helping with art projects that they sell to the community to raise funds for their school. We also got volunteer jobs at a local ice cream shop where we got to spend quality time with the family there and serve them in little ways.
We have been in Guatemala for about a month and a half, and I love it. I am experiencing true growth, change, and new levels of intimacy with Jesus here. We are staying at an adventures base and living in community with our whole squad. I have learned a lot about what genuine community looks like here, and it’s a beautiful blessing to life alongside such passionate humans.
We are working in an English school here called Salea (salt and light) English school. We teach classes daily and work to build relationships with the students. Most of the students have lots of vocab memorized but rarely get to use English in conversation, so we also get to have one-on-ones with the students. One-on-ones are powerful times to hear the students’ stories and to pour into them. It’s cool to see how willing they are to share hard things and to open up spaces for encouragement and growth. People are hungry to learn English here, so its super beautiful to see it used as a bridge to love on students and show them the love of the Father as well.
Lots of wildly amazing things are happening here, & it’s often hard to put them into words, because I truly believe they can’t effectively describe all that the Lord is doing here. He is so good.
Calling Guatemala home for the next month and a half. Then it’s back to the States!
Thanks for reading 🙂
