A little over a week ago I got baptized. It was one of the most special moments of my life. But for years I had dreaded getting baptized, and not for any reason you would think.

I wanted it to be perfect. I believed it would only be special if it was in some majestic ocean with a sunrise or at my favorite lake in Gainesville, and I could only be baptized by someone who looked kind of like Jesus ( Reid Mason). If those things didn’t happen then it just wouldn’t be special enough. If the moment wasn’t right it wouldn’t be up to my standards.

So I waited a really long time. Almost two years to find the perfect scenario. And you know what it never happened. There was never a moment that felt just right.

One morning about a week ago I was doing a devotional the Lord asked me why I wanted to get baptized. I was convicted, and then I got it. The Lord doesn’t care if I got baptized in a baby pool or the most majestic lake view. He just wants my commitment to his kingdom. He wants my full dedication even if it doesn’t look like I want it too.

So I decided that next body of water I found is where I would do it, and the strongest christian in my vicinity is who I would ask.  So that’s how I got baptized in a swimming pool, in Banos Ecuador by someone who leads me closer to christ every day in Kate Goeler. No RAGRETS.
