I am so excited to share about all the ways the Holy Spirit moved in Indonesia!
For three weeks in Indonesia, I joined team G-WOP in Bali as they loved on the Balinese people group. It was my first listening prayer month* and I was just so excited!
The first weekend, we went white water rafting and tried Luwak coffee in a village in east Bali. We were prompted by the Holy Spirit to simply pray for a few people in Jesus’ name throughout the day. We had no idea what those prayers were going to lead to.
The next day, the people we prayed for called us and asked us to come visit their house. They wanted us to pray for their family and they wanted to show thanks.
This village was about 2 hours away from where we were staying. We were not sure how and when we could meet them. But the awesome thing about listening to God and doing what He says is that there is no pressure on you. He makes a way. His burden is light. We were blessed with two more opportunities to visit this village, a village that has never heard the Good News before.
The lady who worked at the rafting place received healing through our prayer. She took us on her moped up the mountain for us to meet her family. We visited two different houses and prayed for many and shared the Good News. Many felt the Holy Spirit move and responded.
The owner of the Luwak Coffee shop we prayed for served us coffee, snacks, and gifted a handmade sarong to show thanks. His friends and family came over to the shop so we prayed for them and shared the Good News with them as well. Holy Spirit again moved and they responded.
At our second visit, we shared as much as we can and connected them with local friends who can continue to follow up with them.
Each of these meetings, the Holy Spirit moved so greatly. Through laying of hands and prayer, people felt warmth, tingling, joy, peace, tears. They felt Love. They could not contain their gratitude. They didn’t know where and how to direct this gratitude so they poured it upon us. As they did, we continued to point to Jesus because it’s not us, it’s Him that is showing His power and love.
But as I sit and reflect upon all that’s happened, I see so clearly how far and how much He has been pursuing them, even before the team and I arrived. One of the men we prayed for said, “many tourists have come but nobody ever prayed for me.”
As soon as we obeyed and prayed, the Holy Spirit rushed in and poured out. How long have you been waiting, Holy Spirit? His heart has been for them for so long. And what a privilege it is to be a vessel for Him.
At the beginning of this month, Hebrews 11 was a passage God spoke to us. It talks about faith. It’s the chapter of “By faith…”
And the verse that is ringing in my head now is Luke 16:10.
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
Simple obedience and prayers led a village to receive Truth for the first time.
*listening prayer month: instead of having an assigned ministry or host to help, each day you ask God what and who is on His heart and follow Him.
