Wow this has been such an amazing first month on the race! My team and I partnered with YWAM in Panama City and worked around the base all month to serve their needs. We helped with cooking a lot, which was so much fun for me. I love being in the kitchen and really enjoyed learning to cook new things and for a large group of people. We also helped get things organized around the base and get to know so many amazing people while we stayed there.
Once a week we would go to the local prison and minister to the prisons there. We would have worship music, do dramas, read scripture and share testimonies! It was a really awesome experience. I think they did more for me than I could ever do for them. It was such an encouragement to see how they so openly and freely worshipped God. One prisoner gave his testimony the last week we were there and it was so uplifting. He shared how he had come to this prison 6 years ago because of selling drugs and came to know The Lord 9 months ago. He said that these 9 months have been the best 9 months of his life! wow! So awesome!
We also got to work with a local church and help in children’s church on Sundays and pray with the congregation after the service. One Sunday we were able to go to a village that a girl staying at the base was from. We had to travel by boat to get there and everyone at the village was so nice and welcoming! They helped us understand their culture better and we had children surrounding us with love and laughter all afternoon.
It was a month full of love and laughter and I’m so grateful to have gotten to meet everyone that we did! I’ve met so many people that I’ll be able to pray over for a life time and I’m so blessed to have gotten the privilege to know them and see what God is doing in Panama City!
