My team (Uniquely Knit) and Peculiar Treasures (another U Squad team) have been teaming up in ministry this month. Half way through the day on Wednesday we were all a bit tired so our “Chinese Jedi”, aka Rebecca, showed us to local coffee shop.

JACK POT

BIG TIME

This hidden treasure, Milk & Honey Land Café, turned out to be a pot of gold.

In the heart of Harbin, China rests a 3-month-old Christian owned and operated coffee shop. It’s owners, Lucy and Chris, are a beautiful couple who love God and desire to invest and serve their community in efforts to share the love of Christ with others.

Our teams IMMEDIATELY fell in love with this quaint, British-themed coffee shop and the owners made us feel right at home.

One thing lead to another and before we knew it, Lucy and Chris were printing up a couple hundred flyers for us to hand out around the local college inviting students to come to their shop for an “English Corner” a few days later to discuss culture and faith with American travelers.

WE COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED. This was an amazing blessing and prayer answered bigger than we imagined. We wanted to make friends, build relationships, and tell these people about Jesus and this was a wide open door of opportunity!

They were helping our ministry by allowing us to meet and talk with people and we were helping them by getting people in their shop! But really, this was just the Body of Christ coming together for the common purpose of sharing God’s love.

One Mind.

One Body.

One Purpose.

After a day of planning and meeting a few more friends, we arrived early and ready on Friday to get the party started. And from 1-5:30pm, we saw God show up in HUGE ways.

Each one of us probably had a good 4 people of our own to converse and hang out with. The conversations were anywhere from light-hearted, fun, curious, deep, and purposeful. Some talked about life over a game of Uno. Others had the Bible out teaching God’s Word. Many discussed the difference in cultures. While we all talked about life goals and family.

But above all, every single person heard about Jesus that day. We were loving, yet intentional. Each of our new friends were very open and curious about our faith in Jesus and allowed us to share openly as they responded with their own beliefs.

At the end of the day we were all high on life. Our prayers, your prayers, moved people closer to the kingdom. This is the power of prayer. This is the power of the Holy Spirit at work. And in obedience, allowing us to be a part of it.

Milk, honey, and coffee have never tasted so good.
