This month we’ve been blessed to live with 6 other volunteers here at LIV Village. Georgie, Rebekah, Anna, and Cam are all from the UK; Catherine is from Dubai; and Henery is from South Africa. Tyler is from Arkansas she doesn’t live in the barracks with us because she’s here 10 months so she lives in a house on the village but, often joins in on the fun.

Our team decided at the beginning of the month since we wouldn’t be together for the Holidays it would be fun to celebrate them together throughout our final month. Our roomies loved this idea as they would get to take part in some American traditions. Last night was “Thanksgiving”!

We went all out. Since we couldn’t find turkey we settled on chicken and duck; we had two types of roasted potatoes; green beans; homemade stuffing; a bean bake (for the vegetarians); garlic bread; apple pie; monkey bread; and cupcakes. Not necessarily the traditional American thanksgiving but oh man was it all delicious.

It was such a homey and loving feeling to be celebrating with people who have become family. We went around the table all saying what we were thankful for and I? nearly started to cry. Our God is so good! Giving us a community of joyful, loving, fun people from literally all over the world that can sit at a table to break bread chatting and laughing like we’ve known each other for a lifetime.

It put so much into perspective for me too. We have less than 2 weeks left of our World Race (absolutely crazy) and we could all be checked out just counting down the days but we’re not. We’ve decided to continue to choose in everyday and make just as many memories our last 2 weeks as we strived to make our first 2 weeks. I’m so thankful for the people God placed in my life this year; the lessons He continues to teach me; the unimaginable experiences we’ve been blessed with; the life changing and eye opening moments we’ve encountered; a family who loves and supports me; the lifelong friendships we’ve made; and to have a community of people back home who’ve continued to support and make this Race a possibility.

Next week is “Christmas”, I? wonder what my secret Santa has in hiding in her daypack. 😉
