I started day two off with the same desperation and dependance on the Lord. After walking a mile to catch a bus, we arrived back to the church. As we were waiting for some of the women to show up, I hear someone yelling inside of the church. I walk in to find a young girl passed out on the floor and the Pastor yelling “Toca, toca, toca” which means “out” in Swahili. After many more minutes of prayer from the Pastor the girl got up and walked out. He said that she was delivered from bad spirits.
Ok, Holy Spirit…definitely going to need you again today!
We started walking around the village and came to a home where two women lived. We began talking to the older woman. She said she believed in God and believed in Jesus but had not accepted Christ as her Savior. I took her hand and started speaking the truth of Christ over her. She prayed to accept Jesus, and we began praying for God to heal her eyes, heart, and feet. Then I started to see her body shake. I thought it was the power of the Holy Spirit and got behind her to catch her until I heard those words again, “toca, toca, toca” and I quickly realized it was a demon. Janet and the other women from the church prayed for the woman for 10-15 minutes, and then the Pastor came to pray. After that, Pastor and his wife led the woman into the church for more prayer and deliverance. Of course, I followed. As we prayed, the demon manifested and the woman began to shake more and made a growling noise. Then she began to cough. After many more minutes of prayer, she was set FREE. She started walking around and stretched her body to find that she had been healed. Papa had set her free. Tears streamed down her face as she jumped for joy at the realization of her freedom and healing. She told us that there was an item in her house given to her by a witch doctor and she wanted to get rid of it.
And I thought back to all those times (last month being one of them) where I had been frustrated with the Lord for not letting me see His power on earth, and I realize it’s not about me. I cannot compare myself to someone else who has prayed for someone to be healed or delivered and think something is wrong with me that Father God hasn’t used me. Maybe my faith isn’t strong enough? Maybe I don’t have enough spiritual gifts? Maybe Father God doesn’t trust me? I realize it’s not about ME. God wanted that woman delivered, healed, and set free! He wants that for all of His children on earth. He uses different people at different times to release His power so His children can walk in freedom.
The morning doesn’t end there. As we were sharing Jesus with this woman a young man walked up. He said he was from Kenya, and he spoke English. His name is Samuel, and he is 24 years old. Here is his story….
“I came to Tanzania a month ago with my boss. He told me we were coming here to purchase bulls because they are cheaper here than in Kenya. I didn’t bring anything with me because I thought I would only be gone for a few days. Soon after we arrived to Tanzania , my boss sold me to a witch doctor. He told me that I was the sacrifice so that he would have blessings and health. The witch doctor told me that by boss gave me as a sacrifice but she said she wouldn’t kill me. Many Muslims come to seek her for healing. The witch doctor does this thing where she uses a razor blade to cut the forehead and the hands of a person and then she applies medicine. She has wanted to do it to me plenty of times, but I have politely refused assuring her I would do it some day. I have lived here for a month and God has protected me. I had a job for two weeks but it ended last week. I want to go home to Kenya, but I have no way of getting home. I believe in God and in Jesus, but I have not come to church because then I have to go back home to live with the witch doctor. “
He told me that he has not accepted Jesus as his Savior because he doesn’t want to follow Jesus and then go back home to live with the witch doctor. He believes he would be serving two masters. He told me there is a lot of witchcraft around this area. He believes that is why there is famine in the land. He said that many Muslims and witch doctors are afraid of talking about Jesus.

So there is this fear of the name of Jesus over this land. I know the enemy has ruled this land for so long, and he is afraid. Please pray and declare with me that this land will be used for the Kingdom of God!
The next day, we bought Samuel a bus ticket back to Kenya. He prayed to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior and said he wanted to share the gospel of Jesus. He said he wants others to know about his life and how it’s an example of God’s protection. While we were at the bus station, I asked him if he was excited to go home and see his family. He said, “I cannot believe that I am really going home.”
At the age of 24, I cannot imagine having a story like that. But God was faithful to bring Him to us and He will be faithful to protect him on his way home.
