I’ve lived my entire life in Roanoke, Virginia (except for when I went all of an hour away for college) so some would say I’m a home-body. I would say I just love my comfort zone. Leaving it behind to be obedient to Christ's calling in my life? Completely do-able.  Really the star city of the South is just so exciting I don’t see how anyone could ever want to leave. (Just kidding.) But, I really do love Roanoke. It’s not too big or too tiny. It has the Blue Ridge mountains and it’s in a good location. It even has the Mill Mountain star!

Most of my family is in Roanoke so that’s why I really love it – I really do love my family. My parents are two of my best friends and I could not say enough good things about them. They’ve loved and supported me for as long as I can remember. We laugh together and at each other… but, I know this is healthy. They love Jesus and have always encouraged me in my faith without forcing me. I also have an amazing big brother and a sweet sister-in-law. I became an aunt last December and I love my little “jellybean” nephew, Caleb, with all my heart. My extended family’s pretty fantastic as well and I’m thankful for the influence and involvement they’ve had in my life! I’m definitely going to struggle with being away from all of them during this journey.

I graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA in December of 2009. I majored in Family and Child Development because I adore kids and knew I’d always be involved with children in some capacity. I got minors in Psychology and Sociology which I loved and I just think people are way more fascinating than math, history, english or science. J I enjoyed my time at LU and I grew so much spiritually and in my identity. If I could do it over again I’d tell myself not to take my Christian education for granted and I’d make the most of every opportunity available.

Right now I’m working at a Christian daycare as a lead teacher in the young 2 year old’s room. It definitely hasn’t been an “easy” job but I love that I get to know and care for these precious children everyday. I come home super exhausted and with snot and tears on my clothes but, I also usually have a couple of good stories and having received lots of hugs. I try to think of it as good practice for the Race. 🙂
