Change is inevitable… I don’t know about you but I hate that part of life… the fact that everything changes constantly. You would think at 28 I would be used to change. I mean I’m a military brat for crying outloud! I’ve moved more than a dozen times and I chose to go on the World Race… which is all about constant change. Yeah about that, still not a fan. This month I know its only a few days in, but seriously, is about change. This month is Manistry month, which means all the men were put on to two teams and the females were divided into six teams. I was on a team with men the last three months, a gift from God, having a team of all women scared me… now I’m on a team of 8 women (myself included). These women are amazing women of God and I’m so excited to see where God leads us and how He grows us this month.
We are TEAM REMNANT. When I was in Honduras, God spoke to me about my next team. That we were to be the Remnant. I was reading in Zechariah at the time. In Zechariah 8 verses 11 thru 23 it talks about the Remnant. The first two verses are key though (11 &12). “But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days’ declares the Lord of hosts. ‘For there will be peace for the seed; the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.” See we are a seperated people, what’s left, our group has the remnant of three teams. We are a small group of women choosing to live out our faith in a very real and tangible way. God has called us out, and seperated us. Last month was very rough for many of our teams in Nicaragua (my team included). There was a lot of spiritual warfare that we dealt with but moving into the Philippines we have felt God calling us into a month of blessing and provision.
In verses 16 and 17 it says, “These are the things which you should do: speak the truth to one another; judge with truth and judgement for peace in your gates. Also let none of you devise evil in your heart against another, and do not love perjury; for all these are what I hate,’ declares the Lord.” This is what we are called to do. This is what our team feels called to do: speak truth to the people here in the Philippines. Which brings me to the next big change, we moved continents, time zones, countries, comfort zones. We are in Asia now and living on the island of Mindoro in the Philippines. It’s a beautiful place with beautiful people. We will be working with an organization called Threads of Hope. We are living in some classrooms and are so blessed this month with showers and amazing food.
Change is hard and something I often avoid because of how difficult it is. I’m learning that God has a purpose in all the changes He brings. It often brings you into an amazing season of new things that will help you grow in who you are. God has told us He will never leave us or forsake us. He has also said, He came to give life and abundant life. Finally, He has called us to Freedom. Galatians 5:13 says, “For you were called to freedom, brehtern; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Change brings a freedom in Christ that allows us to serve more and love more. Change is tough, and following Christ in that change can be even tougher. It would easy to say I don’t want to get to know my new team. I loved my old team but being on this team and an all female team gives a new opportunity of freedom and an ability to share more, serve more, love more with women who are seeking the same things as I am. Women who want to do all these things. It also allows us to approach situations that may not have been as easy to do on a team with men. Changing countries and continents provides a new opportunity to grow in Christ and see how others worship Him, allowing us to have more freedom and expression in Christ. It allows us to love others just as Christ loved us. It allows us to share that freedom that we have in Christ. Change is tough but it can lead to amazing breakthrough.
