I think the question "Is this real life?" will cross my mind way too many time before January 2014. I am a world racer. Gosh, that is just unreal.
This is the inevitable WHY blog. Why the race, why now? It reminds me of my decision to go to college 500 miles away from home without ever stepping foot on the campus. Yes, you read right, my decision to attend Concordia in 2008 was done without ever seeing the campus, except for pictures. Look how that turned out! (AMAZINGLY)
A funny thing happens when God is leading you. It doesn't look quite right to most people, it freaks them out.
That is a lot like how I ended up on the race. A couple of years ago I was serving students at ACF and one of their former youth interns was on the world race. The idea fascinated me, but not as something I would ever do…
Then a couple months ago my friend Annie joined the world race!
I went back to it a couple times between then and now but I never felt called to it at the time.
Fast forward to now. I am finishing a year internship, post grad, in Long Beach. Nothing on the horizon. No job offers, no leads, nothing. I applied to The World Race as a back up. Something I could have in my back pocket as an option. When I was accepted, I all of the sudden got scared, and wasn't sure. Over the course of a week God pushed, through friends and prayer God confirmed it for me. The Race is what I am supposed to do.
A funny thing how God leads us, sometimes hinting at it along the way, giving us a glimpse of what may be. It's hard to explain this path, this choice, but I know it is right.
