My name is Amanda Milner and I’m from the great state of South Carolina! I graduated from the University of South Carolina as a studio art major. Now I’m working as a photographer for a sports photography company in Columbia. I am blessed to live with three amazing girls (our house happens to be in the hood between a church and a liquor store). I am thrilled to go on the World Race. I can’t wait to see what the Lord is doing around the world.
I have been interested in other cultures since I became a believer seven years ago at a church camp. The first time I actually heard of missions though, was after my freshman year of college at a Summer Beach Project with Campus Outreach. The Lord continued to develop a love in my heart for people in other nations who haven’t heard the name of Jesus. Finally, in the summer of 2006, I had the chance to spend my summer in Nairobi, Kenya with Mission to the World. I knew then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life working with the poor around the world. The slums of Nairobi have some of the worst poverty in the world but the faith of those who know Christ is absolutely amazing.
To describe myself, I would say that I am a very passionate person. When I love something, I REALLY love it. A few of the things I feel passionate about: wildlife shows, mountains, African people…people in general, good books, spontaneity, fall, ice cream, kayaking, honesty, family, social justice, good art, iced chai, backpacking, studying the Word, bluegrass, having fun, snowboarding, the poor, holidays, and Jesus of course!
