Do you ever just want to have a normal story? A normal life? Well, sometimes I do. Sometimes I wish that I could have a simple answer when people ask the question, “So, what are you doing in life?” That it didn’t take me five minutes to explain, and that they didn’t look even more bewildered after my answer.
Normal: It would be easier. But, ‘Normal’ could be one of our worst enemies to our God-given destiny. What if Thomas Edison had decided to be normal? Noah? Mother Teresa? Jesus? History is marked by people who chose to live differently. I don’t think that was their aim: ‘to be weird’, but rather a by-product of living out their own destiny, which most likely looked different from those around them.
Matthew 5:13-14, “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
I’ve been struck by this passage lately and the charge for us to not simply blend in, but to stick out. Make people ask questions by the way you live your life. If there comes a time when we aren’t questioned, criticized, or wondered at, that would be a good time to evaluate if we’re living for normal and to please the crowd, or if we’re living unto God and following the unique path He set before us.
Right now my weird life looks like going on the World Race. My squad and I will be going to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Turkey, Albania, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. I am going to be sending out a newsletter soon, if you would like to receive it send me a direct message with your email address and physical address.
Also, if you would like to partner with me through giving you can donate online by clicking on the “Support Me!” link.
This is a video that gives a look at some of the countries that Racers that launch in September will be serving in.
