Disclaimer: This Blog is in 2 parts and will be broken up into what we did on the ministry side as well as what has happened in me.

Lets start with the ministry side of things.

The first day we went to ministry sites I went to the new Horizon Church building and worked with a guy named Randy. He had us pick up around the construction site and told us about the vision for what the church will look like when it is done in December.

My main ministry this month was doing manual labor at La Playa Azul. The very first day we went out there to ministry we were greeted by a marching band of kids from the school practicing for the parade that was going through Jaco for independence day on September 15. My team and I got to watch them perform for about 25 minutes before starting our project for the month. Once we started out project, we were told for that day that we were to dig a trench and pick up trash around the empty field that would eventually become the park that we all wanted it to be.

Toward the completion of the park we were told that there was going to be a grand opening of the park that all of us were going to go to and be a part of. When we went to the Opening of the park we were greeted by the same marching band that we saw on the first day but this time they were in their uniforms on the field we had weeks earlier been picking up trash from. This was super impactful to me because the work was officially completed a long with that we got to play with the kids on the new equipment and just love on the community. The project was complete.

A day later I was working with Randy again and working on a painting project at his house. It was encouraging to see him again and get to say goodbye. The work wasn’t complete but it was good.

The next day the last full day of ministry we went down to the beach to the surf contest to pick up trash. I was with my friend Jessie and at one point we both looked at each other and I said “its like the first day at Playa Azul.”

Part 2 coming in a few days.
