How do you write a blog when you can’t find the words to say? How do you put into words to describe the love you have for the people that have drastically and dramatically changed your life in as little as eleven months? How do you include 23 people in one blog that’s not 200 pages long? How?
I don’t have the answers to those questions but I will attempt my best to write this blog. This blog I want to honor the 23 people that were along side with me for 11 months. The people who went through the good times along with the bad times, the laughing times along with the crying times, the confused times along with the more confused times.
A lot happens in 11 months no matter where you are. To Ethan breaking his wrist in month 1, the plague attacking all but 4 people in month 2, celebrating Christmas in Malawi in month 3, struggles in month 4 and so forth and so forth. Through out the struggles and through out the hardships and the other unknowns of the race one thing for B-Squad stayed constant. Family. B-Squad was a squad like no other, it was a mere 19 of us when most squads are over half our size. But I’m here to tell you that we still packed a powerful punch into the kingdom and all over the world.
There’s not a single person on my squad that hasn’t touched my life in some form or fashion. There’s not a single person who hasn’t shown me love. There’s not a single person who hasn’t made me laugh. There’s not a single person that I didn’t learn from. As we get ready to live our life without each others presence it’ll take awhile for my heart to not hurt. It’ll take me a while for me not to be sad about missing them. But even though I will be sad I’ll never show it, and not in a bad way. I’ll never show it because the amount of laughs we had on the race will overpower the sorrow!
I know for a fact that the moment sadness creeps in a joyful thought will come across. A joyful thought of someone falling, someone telling a lame joke, or someone just tripping over words due to lack of sleep. The list can literally go on and on about everything that’s happened. We started the race not really knowing each other but we ended the race a unique loving and caring family.
So thank you B-squad for showing me what’s it’s like to love Jesus. Thank you B-Squad for making me laugh. Thank you B-Squad for loving me. Thank you B-Squad for being there for each other. Thank you B-Squad for teaching me about Jesus and giving me grace. Thank you B-Squad for everything you have done for me!!
