This month was an unexpected change but a change that we’re starting to love and enjoy. Panama has been such amazing experience just in this week alone. The ministry has been fun and we get our off days at the beach so it’s a win win situation!
One thing that impresses me the most is our host. Our hosts always impress me just in the fact of letting 7 random strangers into there house but there’s something extra special about this host. Our host this month is Danny and Heather and they’ve been married for 15 years now. Danny is a native to Panama but was raised in the states and Heather is from Georgia. Being a native meant having a lot of family here and that also meant knowing the trouble that Panama is in.
They both decided to move to Panama after feeling a calling here from the Lord which was awesome. And an even more awesome fact is that they are here by themself! No other forms of help come around besides world race teams and maybe a few others here and there. They rely on the Lord so much and obey him so much to the point where they would do all of this by themselves. They help run sports ministry, deaf ministry, kids ministry, Vacation Bible School, weekly devotionals, among other things and Danny preaches on Sundays from inside there living room.
They’re constantly moving and doing some type of work in the kingdom and they always have such amazing attitudes and lots of energy. When I asked Danny what keeps him motivated with so much work even when it’s just them two he looked and me and smiled and simply said “the Lord man, me and the Lord talk everyday and he tells me to keep going.” I had no response to that but to smile right back at him.
The more we talked the more I wanted to know the Lord that well. I’m not comparing myself so don’t get me wrong, I just love hearing how people are so dedicated and obedient to our Father in heaven! It makes me want to be at that level and work harder for that kind of relationship with God. The type when it’s just me I can keep going and never second guess God’s work.
